How to Query Equipoise®
This page discusses how to
receive Contact Information for Buyers and Sellers by requesting a FREE Equipoise®
database review after you have identified a possible match to your listing
on the meta-index or interactive database.
In order to query the Equipoise database,
you must have already successfully qualified your own listing using either
the
SALE HORSE
SUBMITTAL FORM, or the
BUY OFFER
SUBMITTAL FORM, plus a mandatory
(one time only)
CONTACT
SUBMITTAL FORM. Contact Information
other than City, State placed on horse forms will be removed.
Equipoise®
SALE HORSE

are
NOT PAID FOR ADS.
The lists are qualified and compiled through a graduated process designed
with the help of over 2,600 top professional and amateur horse enthusiasts
from around the world. Each submittal is carefully reviewed to assure the
published lists are accurate. Each listing points to a single horse or
offer. Only one in ten submittals qualifies for publication, so both buyers
and sellers save considerable time finding that perfect match. No other
source provides such high quality information regarding equine sales.
TO QUERY: You may query the database
using the simple
DATABASE QUERY FORM
and following the samples given below,
by merely sending the ID of the listing that you want information about,
crossed referenced to the ID of your own matched listing. [You may also make
a request via direct e-mail, but that address is periodically changed and
not published to avoid junk mail. You will be informed of the current
address with the submittal of your first form.]
Database review will then be conducted, and
the results sent back via e-mail. Both Buyers and Sellers query in
the same manner.
| sample1: |
buyer 2876 for 1321 |
|
sample2: |
buyer EHU-NY0101152-02876
for EHU-NY0194248-01321 |
The samples above are just suggestions. The
request will be handled by a human, so the format does not have to be
technically correct. However the ID number should be exact. To make things
easier and insure accuracy, the ID's may be copy/pasted from the
meta-index lists or (number only) from the ID field in the
INTERACTIVE SALE HORSE
DATABASE.
To see samples of the text format returned
for Sale Horse queries click on links in the
PHOTO DIRECTORY. Also you may
pre-screen listings yourself by clicking the names of horses returned on the
INTERACTIVE SALE HORSE
DATABASE.
To query the database, you must first
qualify by submitting a
CONTACT FORM along with
a
SALE HORSE FORM or
BUY OFFER FORM.
Contact information is NOT provided in
cases where the Offer Price is more than 15% below the stated Sale Price.
The following text gives further
explanation using Equipoise® responses to two separate e-mails.

Question:
Just another question for you. If I am
interested to know more about a horse someone is looking for, do I have to
have my horse listed with you?
Thanks
Lisa
Answer:
Hi Lisa : )
In order for a meaningful database search
to be conducted, Equipoise®
needs as much high quality information as possible. Since the best
information we receive comes from the
BUY OFFER FORMS and
SALE HORSE FORMS, it is
important that all queries relate to current qualified listings; but you
only need to send ID numbers for the
LISTED SALE HORSE and a
LISTED BUY OFFER via
direct e-mail that is provided on submittal of the forms.
For example you may ask for information
regarding suitability of:
sale horse Krizzi, EPN-NY0194291-00099 for
buy offer: EJU-NY0194213-00130
The posted listings provide "best
uses" and "most specific needs," so only
one buyer (or sale horse) at a time should be queried.
The Equipoise® system was established to
move away from the generalized manner in which many horse owners described
their horses. Fore example, on one occasion we received a listing that stated
the
horse had great potential as a Jumper, Dressage or Combined Training
prospect. However, any horse with the correct conformation, temperament and ability that
will make an excellent Jumper is certainly not the same as one that will
make a world class Dressage horse. Subsequent discussions with the owner
showed they were actually listing a Combined Training prospect. Current
policy disallows publication of "prospect" status, so Equipoise®
further refined the listing to show the horse's actual achievement level of
CT Training.
It was like talking to a proud parent and
hearing them say that their child, "...is going to be a great doctor, lawyer
or maybe president." To which Equipoise® would reply, "Yes
of course...but what have
they done so far?"
As the online forms developed, we found the
number of changes that needed to be made during follow-up were becoming
minimal...the forms themselves were insuring people focused on "best use"
for their horse (and "what do you really need" for buyers). This
focusing process is part of what makes the Equipoise®
lists so unique on the web. There are many services that allow people to
post generalized (we would say "meaningless") information about their horses
and needs, but Equipoise®
provides value added information to people who know how difficult it is to
find qualified horses and knowledgeable buyers.
The online forms and lists are merely the
front-end to a comprehensive local database, so all queries must refer to a
listed sale horse and buy offer. Currently, due to the size and complexity
of the database, it is impossible to provide a fully functional version of
it on the web. In addition to publication technical problems, all users would need
considerable training and expertise in database functions in order to use
it. Therefore search comparisons are made via simple e-mail query. However
Equipoise® plans to bring the whole process directly to users when the
Internet matures to a level that allows it.
In the meantime (after a
CONTACT FORM and
SALE HORSE FORM are
received and accepted by Equipoise®) you may send just the ID numbers for the
buy offer and your matched horse. It is also appropriate, when submitting a
new sale horse, to place a note in the comments field regarding which buyer
you think it matches. Since the lists provide "best
uses" and "most specific needs" only one
listing at a time should be queried. The process is the same for buyers
wishing to query sale horses and who have submitted a qualified
BUY OFFER FORM.
Thanks again for your continued interest in
Equipoise®.
